The correction work we do for Templestowe is overwhelmingly about etching — sap, bird droppings and water spots that have burned into clear coat under summer sun.
A bird dropping on a hot bonnet can mark clear coat within a couple of days. While the etching is still in the clear coat, machine polishing removes it completely. Once it has burned through to the base coat, no amount of polishing brings it back and it becomes a paint repair job. Sooner is dramatically cheaper.
We can't tell you over the phone which side of that line your marks fall on, and we won't pretend otherwise. We look at the car, tell you what's removable, and quote only for that.
We work from a fixed, enclosed garage at 4 Cherry Blossom Ct, Doncaster East — not a mobile van. Paint correction needs controlled lighting to assess honestly, and a clean indoor space to finish properly. Neither is possible in a driveway.
Every quote is written and free. If a cheaper option gets you most of the result, we will say so.
If it's still within the clear coat, yes — machine polishing takes it out entirely. If it has reached the base coat it needs paint repair, and we'll say so rather than charging you to polish something that won't move.
Sap comes off with the correct solvent. The question is what it left behind. Often there's etching underneath that then needs correcting — that's assessed once the sap is removed.
